Maintaining your cache
Keep an eye on it
This is your cache, so take pride in it. Come back often to clear trash, view the logbook and make sure everything is where it should be. Check the logs online regularly to check for any issues people have and make adjustments accordingly.
From your geocache’s page, you can deactivate or archive your cache if necessary.
Deactivate your geocache if it is temporally unavailable. This could be because your cache was reported as damaged or missing and you haven’t been able to replace or repair it yet. A cache should also be marked deactivated if is unavailable for the current season. (For example, it is in a park that is closed for winter). Once the cache is ready to be found again, you can reactivate it from the cache page.
Archive your geocache if it is unavailable and it is unlikely that it will become available again. This could be because the cache has gone missing and you are no longer able to maintain it, geocaches are no longer allowed where you have hidden the cache, or a number of other reasons. Archiving a cache lets other cachers know not to go looking for it. It also allows other cachers to hide new geocaches in the area. If you are able to repair your cache and resume maintenance, you can reactivate it from the cache page later.
